For some very unintelligible reason I have had only a single set of rims during my last 6 years of car ownership. That meant 2 tire swaps per year. That meant around $250 every year. Not to mention wasted time and the inconvenience of lugging tires around. This season I finally rectified that problem!

The name of the game was ‘budget’. My G35x is 10 years old this year and I expect to hit 200k km in a few months. Any money I put into it at this point will do nothing for its value. I had a few options including getting cheap Momo or w/e rims from Crappy Tire, buying some no-name knockoffs, or buying used. I went with the last option and found some OEM Infiniti rims from a 2009 G37x. They’re not in perfect condition and one rim has a dent on one spoke that the previous owner tried to fix. Meh. I will probably end up hitting them with some Plasti Dip anyways (I’m thinking a gunmetal grey base with red speckles/undertones to match the colour of the car).

Total cost for the rims: $300. Three more tire swaps and I will have saved some money! Just hope the car lasts that long...

Bonus ZX-6R in the background.

Rake on the rear?

Time for coilovers?

Looks good though! That’s a nice color.

Ughhh I just ordered new shocks and struts for it too. Parts are on their way. The temptation to at least get an Eibach lowering kit is very high... but the cheapest I could find it for was like $400. Way too much. Might pick up some springs from the G35 coupe which would result in a small drop. But the thing is, the car is great in the winter cuz of AWD and I fear that lowering it (it’s already pretty low!) will make winter driving worse.

I lowered my A4 very significantly, driving in the snow was meh. It would scrape on snow.....

Somehow I’ve got two consecutive busy weekends. That’s why I couldn’t get out last Sunday either. You still around the following week?
